What Adam Lost!

Adam just didn’t lose being in the Garden of Eden, laden with a curse and having to sweat his brow for a living before being declared dead – Adam lost an opportunity to become the Interceder with God on behalf of the Woman!

Just imagine the situation immediately after Eve had been enticed by the Serpent, to taste of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, and after having taken a bite, when she offered it to Adam, if only had he remembered the Rule: Didn’t God tell me that i should not eat from that Forbidden tree? And was that proscription not applicable to you too?

The woman would have given the same explanation to Adam which Eve gave God.

The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.”

Adam could have asked: How did the Serpent beguile you? And Eve would have meekly given a gist of that clandestine conversation she had with the Serpent:

The Serpent asked me: Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Adam would have interjected: So did you tell him which tree? The Serpent did not know which Tree was proscribed by God. Did you give away the details, to that slithery creep?

Eve would have said: i am sorry, i thought the Serpent fore-knew which tree was proscribed, as the Serpent asked me if i shall not eat of every tree in the garden.

Adam would have asked, What did you say?

Eve said: i told the Serpent “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”

Adam could have said: WE? Why did you involve ‘me’ in that slimy conversation, of yours, with that wily fellow?

I had told you that God had commanded me not to eat of a particular tree in the Garden, i had shown you which tree that was and now you are offering me a fruit of that very tree, after having consumed a fruit from that tree?

At best you should have told the Serpent that Adam had informed you that God is supposed to have commanded Adam, not to eat of that tree, and as agreed between us, even i was bound by that Commandment.

Why did you share those details, which you were made privy to, as i had chosen you as my own flesh and blood, when God presented you before me? Don’t you remember that i was in this very Garden for so long without you, and yet it never crossed my mind to try that proscribed tree?

I refuse to hearken to you to eat from that Forbidden tree and i would rather keep the Commandment of God, than show disobedience to what God had commanded me personally, long before you came into existence!

Eve stood like ever before Adam, but felt a sense of shame creeping all over her and said that She was naked.

Eve ran for cover to hide her sense of shame, which was overwhelming. Adam would have taken pity on the plight of Eve and made her comfortable with fig leaves.

And in the cool of the evening when God came, Adam as usual would have met God and interceded on behalf of his fallen Wife.

May be the most merciful God would not have driven out Eve, for the sake of Adam’s OBEDIENCE. Maybe the Men would have had to live with the fallen women and stitch fig leaves and clothe them, to keep them from being ashamed of themselves, while men would have been in the Garden of Eden, walking without knowing what is good and bad; and consequently without a sense of guilt- and probably meeting God daily in the cool of the evening.

Adam, blew up all that? Eh?

No not at all.

Each man would have been confronted with another Eve, who would make a clandestine conversation with a wily Serpent, and after being enticed, would have eaten of the Forbidden Fruit and be offered of the same fruit and been confronted with the same challenge that Adam faced once: Whether to appease the woman companion or implicitly obey the Commandment of God and REFUSE TO PARTAKE IN ANYTHING RELATING TO THAT TREE OF KNOWLEDGE, would have been a perennial challenge!

The challenge is eternal, if that Adam had not brought us down to the Earth, someone else would have!

There is only one UNFALLEN ADAM and he was hanged on the Cross. The Man who asked: “Woman what have i to do with thee?”, When His time had not yet come. He brooked no coercion even from His own terrestrial Mother.

Ram Gopal Varma and his guts!!

It needs guts and loads of it to say what Ram Gopal Varma says despite being in the show biz. His latest interview in THE BANGALORE MIRROR states: forced to make a choice between a beautiful woman and an intelligent woman, i’d rather go for the beautiful one, as i am already intelligent and there is no need of inteliigence in a woman!

GUTS is because he makes his personal preference appear to be the NORM. Let us look at it this way, probably had he been great looking and lagging behind in intelligence probably he’d have preferred “intelligent woman” (pardon my oxymoron!) and would have given reasons as to why he preferred an INTELLIGENT WOMAN. I am a strong believer that a WOMAN NEEDS BRAINS LIKE A FISH NEEDS  BICYCLE. She has to be beautiful, not outwardly, nor like the Paulian prescription at I Timothy 2:9:

In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

but beautifully “expressive”. It is like the beauty of a flower that strives not to capture your attention, but silently “IS” expressing its beauty for the connoisseur to appreciate. It is that BEAUTY which is ELEVATING. Intelligence in a woman makes her EARTHY and not ETHEREAL. It is that ETHEREAL-ness in a woman which makes her beautiful. She makes “choices” but declines to give reasons because her reasons might hurt others, she is “kind” but never allows others to “use” her, she is “wily” but clothes her actions with excitement and tears that no man would dare attribute evil motives to her ( remember how  Eve ate the forbidden fruit and after having transgressed God’s command “gave some of it to Adam” too and ensured that ADAM was also guilty of the same transgression! Made him an accomplice sweetly!!), she resolves her conflicts in silence and well integrates her solution with emotionally charged tantrums, apologizes for inane infringements but keeps all those criminal thoughts and deeds to herself! That is what makes a WOMAN beautiful. It is this compendium of qualities which make her BEAUTIFUL in the eyes of a MAN. A severe “challenge” to his INTELLIGENCE. SHE is an ENIGMA, as the man needs proof and the woman conceals it with an “exterior” which defies the tantalizing “proof” that he supposes he discovered!!

Beauty is that. Let us go to the movie GONE WITH THE WIND and see those 2 women characters- Scarlet O’Hara and Melanie. The opening words of Margaret Mitchell in the book is , “ Scarlet O’Hara was not beautiful, but..” and goes on to show how beautiful Scarlet O’Hara was. It is such “beauty” that probably Ram Gopal Varma has been talking about.

My lady friends especially THE ONES on the side of the Woman’s lib would argue that MEN FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE WITH MORE BEAUTIFUL BUT LESS INTELLIGENT WOMEN. Maybe they are right, and as a wag put it MEN SELDOM MAKE PASSES AT A WOMAN WHO SURPASSES!

Let me conclude with one of the statements of one of the greatest researchers of human mind said about woman: Sigmund Freud- “Despite my 30 years of research into the feminine soul (pardon his presumption- as if they had one!), i have not yet been able to answer ………the great question that has never been answered: What does a woman want?”

EVE & THE SERPENT!

The story of Eve eating the Forbidden Fruit ( whether apple or not, i don’t know), is  a secular story even though, i believe that the origin is from the book of GENESIS from the Bible.

When Eve opened the communications channel with Serpent, Adam was not around.

Secondly, the Serpent just said “……….hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” and my multi-great ancestress says, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.”

With this she gave away the precise location of the tree of prohibition and the terrible consequences of  eating the fruit!

The serpent defies the warnings of God and says , “Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Eve is having a good time , thinking that she’s educating herself for a better life, where she could be more knowledgeable and BE LIKE GOD!!”

Now this is where she missed the point. MERE KNOWLEDGE DOES NOT EMPOWER A PERSON, THERE ARE OTHER THINGS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL TO BECOME A GOD. THE GOD WAS A CREATOR, BUT WHAT SHE ENDED UP INVENTING WAS SKIRTS AND APRONS TO HIDE HIS & HER NAKEDNESS.

KNOWLEDGE SHOULD BE ACQUIRED, BUT WITHIN MANAGEABLE LIMITS.

UNMANAGEABLE KNOWLEDGE REVEALS OUR OWN NAKEDNESS, AND INSTEAD OF DOING SOMETHING FRUITFUL WE GET BUSY HIDING OUR OWN NAKEDNESS THRU FIG LEAVES AND HIDING!!!
